was a dog breed Akita who became famous for his loyalty to the master Hidesaburō Ueno. After the death of Ueno, the dog went every day for nearly a decade, waiting for him in vain at the station, where the man took the train to get to work.
The story had a huge response among the public of the time and soon became Hachiko, Japan, an emblem of affection and loyalty. In 1934, the faithful animal was given a statue and, over the years, his story became the subject of films and books. Also known as Hachiko Chūken
